Что предлагают власти штата:
1. Губернатор попросил денежную помощь у федералов:
... Newsom, a Democrat, and the state's Democratic-dominated Legislature have pleaded with Congress to send the state more money to help cover that shortfall - so far without success.
2. Урезать социальные программы :
... Last month, Newsom proposed a new spending plan that would
- cut billions from public schools,
- eliminate some health benefits for low-income adults and children
- and making fewer older adults eligible for government-funded health insurance
unless Congress sent the state more money by July 1.
3. Калифорнийский Конгресс решил пободаться с губернатором:
... California's Legislative leaders on Wednesday rejected billions of dollars in budget cuts to public schools and health care services that Gov. Gavin Newsom had proposed, setting up a fight with the governor over how to close the state's estimated $54.3 billion budget deficit.
и взамен предложили:
... Close two state prisons “with legislative guidance.”
4. Ну а в разрушенном погромами Лос Анжелесе решили последовать требованиям местных знаменитостей и урезать бюджет городской полиции:
... Los Angeles City Council members on Wednesday introduced a motion to cut up to $150 million in funding to the L.A. Police Department.

“We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department and replace it with a transformative new model of public safety,” Bender tweeted.

Bender told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that she envisions replacing a traditional police department with a broader, more holistic public safety department geared toward violence prevention and community services. Social workers or medics could respond to situations once handled by police, she said.
